Fitness for Beginners and Busy Mom

Well, all of us wanted to exercise but don’t know where to start and have time to start.

Here are the few options that I have come across. Please pick the option that works for you and start working out today. Initially everyone starts exercise to weight loss but as the days go by we realize how it transforms our life completely by removing stress, making us more active and healthy.

Before I get in to details, my recommendation is start with Blogilates Beginners Calendar. Cassey Ho is excellent instructor. I have been using her calendar for 4 months and I cant believe how much strength I have now. You just need yourself and a Yoga mat for her exercises.

10 Minutes Exercises

Well if you have 10 minutes daily to watch TV or browse through your phone, you will definitely have 10 minutes to  do your exercise.

Here are my recommendations:

1) Walking:

Walking is the exercise that anyone can start.
Recommendation: Brisk Walk 30 minutes for at least 3 days/week. Start with 5 to 10 mins walk and slowly buildup. As you build up your stamina or as the weather get colder, you can try this 45 mins walking video.

2) 10 minutes Video - Calendars

Day 1: Beginner Low Impact Cardio  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H9qdpUzu4M
Day 2:  Standing Ab Exercise:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08Bi8hMdwa4
Day 6: Shilpa Shetty 15 mins Full Body Workout Yoga https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnKZit6VB44
Day 7: REST

3) Walking/Jogging in the spot

Here is the interval to start with:
90 secs: Walking
30 secs: Jogging
As you get good at it, do this.
30 secs: Walking
90 secs: Jogging
Repeat 5 times.

20 Minutes Exercises

Well if you have 20 minutes.
  • Brisk Walk for 20 minutes
  • Repeat the video above twice J
  • Walk/Jog in Interval for 20 minutes.

30 Minutes Exercises

Good news: You can exercise for just 3 days a week if you are doing it for 30 minutes. But believe me, exercising is addictive. In few days you will be working out 6 days a week (1 rest day is a must)

There are many options. My favorite is Running and Blogilates.
Take one or two rest day each week.

40 Minutes Yoga

I just love this 40 minutes yoga routine by Shilpa Shetty which I make sure I do atleast weekly once.

Stretch:

Last but not least, don't forget to stretch after any exercise.
I follow this stretch after my Pilates:
